Qazvin province, according to geographical location connects the capital to North, West, Caucasus countries and Europe and because of proper position has changed to one of the major poles of the country in terms of developing of agricultural, industrial and services.
Qazvin has separated from Tehran province in 1375 and became one part of Qazvin province with Takestan city (one part of Zanjan province in dividing the country. City of Qazvin, Buin Zahra, Abik and Takestan are administrative and political parts of this province.
Qazvin has 1,143,200 populations in 1385. 68/05percent lives in urban areas and 31/94 percent in rural areas. The province's population sex ratio was 104.
Qazvin province is divided into two parts, mountain and plain in terms of Natural position.The mountainous region is located in north of the province and covers the territory in the south of the Alborz Mountains. Valleys of the Alborz are drawn in the southern foothills. The weather of Qazvin Province is cold in the north and mild in the South.Generally have cold and snowy winters and mild summers but the plain areas have relatively cold winters and relatively warm summers.
Old and historical background of Qazvin region related to the Median in the ninth century BC. Peoples and different tribes, including Tabarestan invaded to Qazvin area at that time. Qazvin was the residence of Arab conquers in early Islamic era.
